Herd Health as a Daily Routine in Bredbjerg
Stalosan for Clean, Dry Cubicles
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Stalosan is applied in the cubicles. Twice a week the team uses Stalosan Dry and once a week Stalosan F. This combination helps to both dry and disinfect the lying areas, keeping cows comfortable and minimizing bacterial growth.
The results have been clear:
- Low cell counts
- Reduced mastitis pressure
“Health and cell counts are something we pay very close attention to, and we’ve had really good experiences with this system,” Henrik explains.
HooFoss for Strong Hooves
Hoof care is equally structured. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the team applies HooFoss. It has become such a fixed part of the routine that everyone on the farm knows: Tuesdays and Thursdays are HooFoss days.
Henrik notes the difference when treatments are skipped:
“In the weeks where we’ve forgotten it, we immediately notice – the infection pressure rises.”
Why Consistency Matters?
Working with milking robots makes herd health even more critical. Cows with poor hoof health may struggle to eat properly and avoid the robots, leading to production losses. Likewise, mastitis leaves lasting damage in the udder and reduces future milk yield.
By combining Stalosan and HooFoss in a fixed weekly schedule, Henrik ensures both udder health and hoof health are actively supported.
A System That Works
For Henrik and his team, herd health is not just about reacting to problems – it’s about prevention through routine. The structured use of Stalosan F, Stalosan Dry, and HooFoss keeps the barn environment clean, lowers infection pressure, and supports the performance of the herd.
Or as Henrik puts it:
“Stalosan F and HooFoss complement each other very well in daily use.”
