Near Dinan the Animal Nutrition Specialist Expands Its Ambitions
In the presence of members of the Danish management team and France General Manager Aurélien Trac, Vilofoss France inaugurated new offices this Tuesday at its historic site in Pleudihen-sur-Rance. This €1 million project supports a broader transformation of the company’s activities.
Vilofoss France, a company specializing in animal nutrition, inaugurated new offices on Tuesday, April 7, at its Pleudihen-sur-Rance site. Carried out over approximately fourteen months, this €1 million project, supported by the Danish group DLG, marks an important milestone in the company’s development. As Elian Guinic, Head of Trading, points out, “it is only the visible part of the iceberg."
Expertise Rooted in Breton Farming
Established nearly 90 years ago in the Gare industrial area under the name Calcialiment, the company grew alongside French livestock farmers, particularly driven by the expansion of pig production during the 1980s and 1990s. Its core business is based on so-called “FAF” farmers, who produce their own animal feed using cereals grown on their farms. “They produce their own raw materials, and we complement the feed rations to ensure nutritional balance,” the manager explains.
Over the years, this positioning has expanded. Since the 2010s, the company has invested in the ruminant sector, which now represents nearly half of its business activity.
The Pleudihen site serves as the French headquarters and employs around 70 people, supported by sales teams operating throughout the country. Two additional production units, located in northern France and in Ille-et-Vilaine, also contribute to the company’s operations. Together, these activities generate revenue through two entities, Vilofoss Négoce and Vilofoss SAS, as explained by Aurélien Trac.
Moving Into a New Phase of Development
The modernization of the offices is intended to support this evolution. “The objective was to bring teams together and improve working conditions,” explains the Head of Trading. These new spaces also provide better facilities for traveling employees.
Beyond this investment, the company has launched a broader transformation of its industrial operations. A new production line dedicated to targeted nutritional solutions — including immunity support, respiratory health, and liver protection — has recently been installed.
This momentum is part of a development plan looking ahead to 2030. “We are working simultaneously on industrial development, commercial growth, and human resources,” explains Aurélien Trac, General Manager, who above all aims to uphold “strong company values.” By strengthening its teams, upgrading its product range, and maintaining strong local roots, the company intends to continue its growth while building on its core foundations.
